Hmm...

Progress

Yes, blogging from work again. Because it’s Friday and my “neighbours” are away at the moment, I am all alone and struggling to stay awake. Forgot about bringing my breakfast to work this morning so yeah… I’m hungry and waiting for lunch now. I’ve been drinking loads of water this morning because I’m hungry. Hehe…

Anyway, the crazy weekend just started. Tonight is DV8 night and tomorrow we are going for a trip up north to see dolphins followed by Marcus surprise birthday party from 6pm onwards. Oh my goodness… a long day eh? I’m really excited about the trip up north but not too excited about the rest. I wonder why. Probably because I’m getting old and clubbing is just not my thing anymore? I’ll probably see lots of younger “boys” which I’m not really interested in CHECKING THEM OUT… if you get what I mean… it’s different for guys. They can always check out younger girls… it doesn’t sound wrong. Hmm… I think I’ll just go for the sake of going and to keep my Welly mate accompanied.

Oh yeah. good news from me. I’ve been approached by my director yesterday. He asked me to step up to be the project manager of one of the big jobs we have been doing since 2002. The reason being the current project manager is transferring to another branch in UK and I’ve been her assistant for the past few months so I’m the best candidate. Hmm ... I did hesitate for a while because I don’t seem to know a lot about the project. (à Sign of low confidence… ~.~) But he’s nice enough to assist me. So I’m now officially a project manager for one of the key projects after spending months doing small jobs.

Well thinking about it… my work progress so far since I join this company…

First few months (early 2006)
90% of admin job, I’ve done really crappy admin job (filing, sending letters, ordering stationeries à I’ve been “nominated” to be the assistant secretary when my secretary is away). I’ve been asked to be the department librarian and been given the “mission impossible”, i.e. tidying up all the books/standards/project folders stacking up in the department library.

Mid 2006
Started involving in some preliminary background information preparation work, doing some traffic survey supervision work, and doing some traffic engineering review work. All these work is only in the order of $2000 max. And I don’t really have to do much thinking. All I need to do is to get things done effectively.

Late 2006
My only achievement/improvement then was to organise AND supervise traffic surveys. I was “the person” to approach if someone in the department is to get some survey done. At this time, due to me being “upgraded” to becoming a organiser AND a supervisor, the cost of work that I was doing then was approximately $3000 max.

Early 2007 until Mid 2007
Due to a new grad joined us in early 2007, I passed most of my little “tasks” to him. I’ve been given chances to do projects all by myself but all my reports/outputs would be reviewed by my senior before issuing to the clients. I’ve done three mini engineering/planning projects in that period (approximately $6k fee each). For the very first time, I was being introduced as the “traffic engineer” during client meetings. Freaky but challenging. =) My senior and I were very pleased that our clients for all three projects were very satisfied with the output.

Now
Due to my senior being too occupied with other projects, I’ve been given the chance to do the final follow up of a $30k job which I’ve done extensive survey on and did the preliminary part of the project. And as I mentioned upfront, i’ve been given the chance to be a project manager finally. This job is more than $30k and I am really glad that I’ve been given this chance. =) wish me luck!!!!

All right… lunch time. =) Gonna go Remuera noodle house for lunch.. yum yum…

Fatigue

Remember i wrote a post about me getting shoulder ache and a software was installed on my work pc to remind me to take breaks throughout the day? oh well, i had my first physio session today at work.

well, she sort of adjusted all my work equipments, i.e. the height of my chair, the height of my stool, the height of my microdesk etc. We also chat about what i do outside work.. blah blah blah.... she concluded that:
- I spent too much time in front of the pc. I should just switch off my pc, walk around, read a book/magazine or do some cooking;
- Doing gym is not good for me at the moment because it won't help relaxing my muscles. I should do more yoga (i.e. stretching exercise) and walk more.

apart from that, she said that i look "fatigue"... sounds serious eh? well, fatigue means that every morning when i wake up, i don't feel refresh, but i feel tired. She said i should watch out what i drink/eat after 6pm every night and try to relax at night and always drink lots of water + min 8 hrs of sleep. hmm... time to change... =)

oh well, i'm doing some online shopping recently. Trying to buy something off the net. currently looking for a lotion, an eye cream, a perfume, & a face mask.

hmm... any good websites??? =)

等待

我等待的这一天终于到了
从今以后我的世界是怎样
是喜还是悲?
有谁可以告诉我??
一切献给上帝吧!

Friday??

Friday, gloomy day.

Why do I always get blamed for something that I did not even do??? How can I make a mistake when I’m not even around! I can’t argue because I wasn’t given the chance to argue. All I have to do now is to solve all the problems. I don’t even know where to start because I have no freaking idea about what went wrong. Oh well….

Can I get some sunlight here please?

Ouch!

Argh. I've been having severe shoulder ache recently. Yesterday, i did a workstation assessment and i complained about my shoulder ache. Well, as a result, the company physiotherapist ordered me a brand new chair which could give me more back support and installed a software in my pc which would constnatly remind me to take a break.

It's pretty cool at the very beginning, but it became really annoying. I am forced to take micropauses every now and then for 1 - 3minutes, and then break (morning tea break, lunch break and afternoon tea break). My keyboard will be locked and i had to sit here wondering around or do the exercise they suggested to me.... Yeah.. EXERCISE. During breaks, a pop up window will appear showing some exercise movements, for example, "Put one arm behind your head with the palm touching your back. Hold onto your elbow with the other hand and gently pull across and down. Go to the point where you feel a stretch in your shoulder and upper arm and hold this position. Repeat both sides several times."

oh ...annoying....

Oh no!!!!!

This is not good. I was really happy that I finally built my website. It looks great using Firefox browser but it looks horrible when I tried browsing it at work today using IE, i mean IE6. Argh… crap! Meaning I’ve got another problem to solve. or should i just keep it like that??? since it works in Firefox and IE7? hmm.... *thinking*

Back in the Blogging World

Yeah. I'm back in the blogging world after disappearing for three months. I've been really busy and feeling lazy most of the time to blog from home. Well, ever since Blogger uses Gmail account as sign-in, i have difficulty to blog from the office because we can't access any other mailbox apart from our work mailbox. Yeah, SUCKS! This means that I can't blog during working hours, which i normally do.

Anyway.....

Please give a big hand to ME!!!!!! After spending the past 4 days trying to learn CSS language, i finally managed to build a brand new page. Really tough job but i'm quite satisfied with the end result. *clap*

Oh well, I've still got some tiny things that need to be done before my entire website is completed, such as:
- The links on my current site has to be updated as most of the links are still empty;
- Still thinking of what to do with the Gallery section. Don't feel like posting all my pictures online, but i would love to share some nice/memorable pictures. Well, i found this amazing online photo album that could do nice picture slideshows. Might give it a try.
- I'm still looking at making my website better. Currently I'm thinking of how to make a scrollable content with fixed header and the bars on either side of the content? Killing my brain cells to find out the answer. HELP?

Okay. i've been staring at the computer screen for too long. It's time to take a rest, or probably i should just go to bed since it's already late and tomorrow is M O N D A Y... yea... no one likes monday. i hate Mondays and in fact, i hate weekdays recently. Why? will tell you the reason soon.

- goodnight people -

Again...

Nice Song from Fish Leung

56 working hours

Yes, 56 working hours… I have the habit to keep track of the hours I spent on a particular project so that when the PM questioned me about my time spent on the job, I have something to prove.

Oh well, I’m really tired… working day and night, haven’t had a chance to really relax and take my break in the office apart from the occasional “toilet trips”.

Hmm… enough said. Nothing special in my life. Work work work…

Sick of it. Seriously thinking of going back to my student life...

It's all coming to an end....

My three-week break in Malaysia is coming to an end... Sad... Don't really wanna go back to work.

Sigh...

I've used up my annual leave this year, meaning i gotta work hard for another 12 months before i can go on a break. Probably that is the main difference between student life and working life. I wish i can go back to school, where my main wory is to pass my examinations and handing in my assignments.

Oh well, my last week of my break is not bad at all. I finally had the chance to meet up with my dearest sisters... muacks... you guys are the best! I really enjoyed every single second we spent together. it really does feel different spending time with these crazy fellas... prolly we grew up together and we've been close friends for 10+ years... time really flies. It's my 6th year in NZ. >< if any of you're reading this, i'm still waiting for you to come visit me in new zealand.... take good care and i'll be back soon. =)

And guess what, today i finally had the chance to take the putra lrt and kl monorail... my tiny little adventurous trip to explore KL. =) it was not bad at all. save the hassle from getting caught in the notorious KL traffic n saving the $$ on petrol & parking! i will love to go to KL again via train.

Frustrated...

I've been sitting here for 1+ hour..... clicking on different websites to look for a good deal.

Yes, I'm looking for a pc AGAIN...

since i've got my pay this month due to annual leave and not using it at all, i'm thinking of investing a partial of my pay to a new PC.

bear in mind, i'm not a freaking rich person who is willing to dump money into a pc. It's my 4th PC. YES... 4th PC within 2 years... freaking crazy.

Oh well, first PC got screwed up badly and i dunno why.... got sent all around the world to get it fixed. it's processing slowly now and i'm currently using it in Malaysia...
Second PC keeps dying and i dunno why again... been sending it back to the seller every weekend ever since i bought that pc...
And after giving up my 2nd pC, i swapped it with a custom built PC for 400 bucks cheaper... it kept giving me this stupid 'mup.sys' error... and i had to reformat my whole damn pc!!! i couldn't leave it on for too long because it's making those freaking annoying noise. arghh.... it's dead again now for don't know what reason again.....

F it! i'm gonna get another pc now. however, after browsing through so many pc-related websites, the best pc is still a custom built PC. But HOW?

i've got a 200gb sata II HDD now, with 1g RAM + DVD Writer... n it's still not running smoothly. should i invest on another one???

Dell is having some promotions... it's all more than 1k!!! argh.. i don't need a monitor, i don't need a keyboard and i don't need a mouse! i've got wired keyboard+mouse and I also have wireless ones!

All i need is a decent PC which i can use to chat, to watch my movies, to store my movies and most importantly... STABLE and not giving me, a pc idiot, so much trouble!!!

i feel so helpless everytime my PC got F up, and i feel bad asking for help...

how.... =(

i've got a broken pc, a broken camera.... all cost me $$ to repair or to find a replacement. =((

sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Inconvenience

I've been staying at home rotting since i became cacat... wake up in the morning, have a super light breakfast, then bum around doing nothing, have a light lunch, watch tv, catch a short 30 mins afternoon nap, wake up, shower, have light dinner, tv again, then Zzzz.... around 11pm.

Note that i said "light" for every meal.... bcuz i am not moving too much and i don't wanna gain weight! that's why i have been having very little meal.

Time is running out. Next week i'll be flying back to NZ. and back to my busy boring working life! ><

Not enough shopping yet. I was tidying up my stuff yesterday and was thinking of what to get still. The list goes on and on.... hmm..... i'm really cacat here. cant walk much + no sense of direction here + no public transport = grrrrr...... i've decided to ask my parents to drop me off at 1 utama or mid valley early next week and i'll shop for the whole day all by myself till they are free to pick me up. =) i think shop alone at your own pace is the best... =)

anyone going into KL city??? i need to get some pirated movies + some cheapo stuff.... =)

bored... it's only 10am, i'm barely awake for 1.5 hours... now i'm yawning again.... damn it!!!!

oh in case you guys din know about this....
i can't move into newmarket apartment next weekend. Some documentation difficulties have delayed the whole handing over process. >< Now gotta stay in the good old ellerslie room. =) hehe... however, this time i won't be having as much fun, coz my bloody f-up pc is dead (as usual)... aiii.........

NOw my knees are injured..... everytime i bend my knees, i can see my real flesh.... coz no more skin ma... YIKES!!! if you interested, i have got photos.... was thinking of putting it on my blog, but it's too yucky... ><

hmm.... showered and applied really strong ointment on my knees.... now after wrapping up my wound, i'm going to sleep... Zzzz.....

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR

Just wanna wish all of you HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR.... because in exactly 12 hours, I’ll be going back to my hometown, Melaka for Chinese New Year celebration.

This festive season used to be my favourite festive season. Unfortunately, it is not as grand as before. No more playing fireworks, no more ang pow giving, no more lion dance… it’s just a plain family gathering. Everyone gather around and introducing the new members to the family… gossip gossip gossip… i'm well prepared to get bombed by my relatives AGAIN. they are never sick of asking the same old questions over n over again. i'm really speechless.... -___-

Anyway, i hope that you kids out there will get lotsa ang pow! and adults out there will not give out too many ang pows... hahaha.... in fact when you think about it, the money will be recycling... child A's mummy give X amoutn of money to child B, then child B's mummy give X amount of money to child A... so who gain at the end??? NO ONE! probably it's just because chinese are born to love money. =)

malays dun used to give out money during hari raya.... until they invent something like GREEN POW... instead of RED in color.. it's GREEN... ><

n i cant remember indian givin out money too?????

tired...Zzz...

I’m starting to feel tired. I think it’s because I haven’t fully recharged my battery since I landed in Malaysia last Saturday. I’ll blame it on the terrible flight back home. Before I hop onto the plane, I was hoping that neither kids nor babies would be sitting around me so that I could have a nice long sleep. But damn it! There were 3 ah cha kids jumping around the whole freaking 10 hours journey… they were playing games, talking out loud, laughing out loud and worst of all, when they were bored of these things, they stared at me….. and oh well of cause I stared back!!! They were freaking annoying. I dare not complain because the dad looked like a terrorist and the mum had her face covered…. So yeah.... F R E A K Y…

Apart from these 3 monkeys, there were a few babies around me too… poor babies… they were crying non stop because they weren’t feeling comfy… I can understand that. Aww….

Anyway, conclusion is I had only 2 hours sleep. By the time I reached Malaysia, I was like a walking zombie… had a really nice dinner in Centrepoint and went back home to have early rest… Zzzz….

The next day, I woke up at 6.20am to accompany my mum to the church followed by grocery shopping in the wet market in PJ. I’ll attach some photos taken in the wet market later. Can’t seem to transfer photos from my cellphone to my bro’s pc via Bluetooth. ><

In the afternoon, we went to 1 utama to do our first round of shopping. Came home around 10pm.

My routine for Monday, Tuesday & today were the same. Woke up around 8.30am, did some housework, had lunch, then went shopping till around 9pm. -___- I bought heaps of stuff but I still feel like shopping. Haven’t gone to Sungei Wang yet… anyone keen to accompany me to KL city???? =) =) I’ll give you a big hug!!! *wink*

Shopping in Malaysia is just awesome! So many varieties, so cheap, so nice…. Hehehe… Sylvia park in Auckland just can’t be compared with 1 utama! Hahaha…. Am I right people?

Okay. I’m off to sleep. Really tired…. Zzzz…..

V Day

Valentines Day has just passed.

I spent my valentines day sitting at home. =) hehe… it’s more like a family day to me.

Anyway, speaking about valentines day… I met this young boy when I was choosing some nice bracelets and anklets for myself on Tuesday in Mid Valley shopping mall. He was asking the promoter whether if they sold any necklace with heart shape pendant. He also chose a pair of rings and asked the promoter to try it on so that he would have picked the right size. Haha! My evil mum then teased him and he was blushing after that because he was buying the ring and the necklace for someone that he likes… hahaha!!! This whole scene reminds me of those good old times back in high school. Hahaha!! High school girls are always anticipating the arrival of valentines day to judge your popularity in the school. Hahaha!!! I missed those silly days. =) *wink*

Another thing I noticed when I was doing my shopping in mid valley was that they had this campaign of sending out your message to your loved ones…. your love message will then be shown on big screens everywhere in the shopping mall. Some of these messages are sweet and some are just plain funny. Keke.. again, I’ll post the photos up later.

That’s about it for Valentines…. =) happy valentines to everyone… especially to my bf in NZ. =)

Before....

Just a quick update of my life….

Last Friday was my last day at work before I came back to Malaysia for Chinese New Year. (I arrived at 8pm Msia Time last Saturday) It’s so strange that until the very last minute I still couldn’t believe that I was leaving NZ for Malaysia for three weeks. Probably I was too busy with my work and trying to work crazily for the past few weeks to earn extra hours; that was why time just passed by so quickly that I really can’t imagine it!

Now sitting at home enjoying my holiday, I started having the feeling that time passed by real slow… really a huge contrast.

Anyway, I turned 23 two weeks ago. Thanks to Yan who bought the cake all the way from Howick, and thanks to Kev, Jeng, Janice, Marcus, Warren, Kenny & Mel for celebrating my birthday with me. Oh well, I did not expect much because similar to last year, I was busy moving again.

Oh yes, I finally moved out from the CBD to my bf’s tiny little room in Ellerslie. Well, I have to admit that it isn’t that bad living in Ellerslie apart from having to catch the same bus as most of the “ah cha” in this city because the bus that I’ve been catching back to Ellerslie from Newmarket is a bus that goes all the way down south to the ‘ah cha’ region. Oh yeah, a special thank you to Francis that offered to give me a ride to work every morning. =)

Since I moved to Ellerslie, I’ve been eating out. The best place that I went to was this viaduct restaurant called “Degree”. A few months ago after trying out their dessert deal for 5 bucks on a Tuesday night. I went onto their website and signed up to receive notification if there were any upcoming special deals. I was pretty surprised that on my birthday, they sent me a short email wishing me happy birthday and giving me a complimentary stonegrill main dish! I really have to say that the stonegrill is AWESOME!!! You guys should try it. It is super good…. And I also tried the entrée dish called “Seafood Chowder” which is also delicious!!! Oh man, I really missed the food…. ><

Will update again later about my life in Malaysia…. =) I'm gonna talk about FOOD again...=)

An unforgettable experience

Sorry if anyone felt offended. But I started to feel that it’s true that the day when I was born wasn’t a good day because I always experience some really “suey” stuff happened on me around my birthday.

Last Thursday when I was on my way to my uncle’s place, I got stopped by the police for the very first time since I got my drivers license in year 2000. Not bad huh? Oh well, I don’t mind getting stop by the police if I were speeding my way in the motorway. Yeah, I got stopped and got fined a freaking 150 bucks because I did not let the undercover cop merge into my lane.

The incident goes like this…

The car in front of me and I were travelling at a slow speed on the slowest lane on the state highway quite close to each other. I was driving slowly just because I was worried that I will subconsciously go over the speed limit and get ticketed by the police. So, to be safe I actually changed from the highest speed lane into the lowest speed lane 5 mins before then. The undercover cop was travelling at a merging lane at a considerable fast speed. He wanted to squeeze in between the two cars without signalling and the gap in between was so tiny. To avoid to emergency break and causing the car behind me hit my ass…. I maintained the same speed and past the car. Right after that, the cop stopped me and said that I was supposed to let him go and he even said that he did not have to signal to merge in.

This incident really made me wonder about the road code in this country. I remember a few years ago, my dad actually got ticketed for NOT signalling out from a merge lane into a full traffic lane. So, what is the right way??? To signal or not to signal? For me, I always signal to merge into the next traffic lane and I always travel at a slow speed to allow safe merging. But, cops told me that they don’t have to signal? I really don’t understand.

Alright, apart from the signalling, I know I have to merge like a zip! Oh well, considering three cars were travelling so close to each other and they actually have approximately 200m ahead of them before the lane ends. Why don’t they slow down and start to slowly merge in before forcing their way to merge in at the very end of the lane? I have two choices, either I break and let them merge in or I cruise through. The consequences are:
1. If I break and let them merge in:
Pros: I don’t get 150 bucks fine… clean record
Cons: The car behind me will kiss my ass…
2. If I don’t break:
Pros: My car will be alright
Cons: I got the nicest bday “offering” to the poor and needy

Being a traffic engineer myself, I would have to admit that the traffic rules, road markings and signage in this country are in a total mess. It often confuses the road users. And if you are unlucky, you will get ticketed.

Incidents like that always make me question myself… why don’t they do something better and more beneficial to the society? There are much more serious crimes in this piece of land rather than driving their nice cars and giving tickets to people that doesn’t commit any crime! I always think that travelling for an extra 10km/hr isn’t going to kill anyone in the motorway as long as they are driving safely and are not drink-driving. In fact, if you constantly check your speedometer while driving, you don’t actually 100% concentrate on driving.

So, I really think that they should go out and catch people that have commit serious crimes, for example, vandalism, stealing… etc. In a growing city like this, they should focus more on these issues rather than driving their FAST car chasing people on the motorway. -___-

Side Note:
People living in this city will normally encounter these incidents, if you haven’t encountered any of these incidents, you are DAMN LUCKY…
Got ticket by the police
Got your car stolen
Got your car broken into
Got your car towed away
Got your car scratched

Okay enough bitching about this issue. Don’t sound that interesting or exciting after non stop bragging about it. I’ll start writing about some tiny updates of myself apart from getting ticketed by the police.

First Post in Year 2007

HAPPY "BELATED" NEW YEAR!!!!

Recap of Year 2006

Year 2006 is my first year in Auckland;

Year 2006 is my first year in the work force;

Year 2006 is my first year being independent of family support

Blah blah blah… n the list goes on…

In conclusion, lots of happy/sad things happened in year 2006. I will remember the happy things and I’ll try not to remember the sad things as I can be really pessimistic at times. Well, I thank God that I have “survived” year 2006 and I wish that everyone around me will be healthy & happy in year 2007. =)

Happy New Years Eve… Saw fireworks at Viaduct and went to Asta Bar and Margie for the night with Heather, Marie, Janice, Marcus & Kevin! Although we had to pay lots to get into the bar, I definitely had a great time and it was my first time going clubbing with Marie!

16 January 2007

I’ve been in the work force for exactly a year on this day. Time really flies. >.<

Currently…

Currently, I’m sitting in front of my PC (duh…) trying to concentrate on my work (Yes, W-O-R-K~) but somehow I felt like blogging because I haven’t blogged for ages, I think it’s more than a month since I last blogged.

I’m home alone now when other people are having fun enjoying their long weekend. Oh well, shouldn’t be complaining at all since I HAVE TO work longer hours these few weeks before I fly back to Malaysia due to lack of annual leave balance and some other *special* reason. Hmm… stay positive…. I’ll have my holiday break in Malaysia in two weeks time. =)

Beside working longer hours these few weeks, I’m busy packing up my stuff. Yes, we are moving… but moving all our furniture into storage before we go back to Malaysia and when we get back from Malaysia, we will move into our newly bought apartment in Newmarket. Oh gosh, can’t wait to move into the apartment. Now I have a place where I called “home” in Auckland after looking for properties for almost 2 years. Can you believe it? This is because Auckland has got lots of substandard properties lying around, especially in the so-called “blue chip locations”. And the most notorious defect in these properties is “leaky building syndrome”, which affects 99% of the plaster built houses. That’s why, to all Auckland Properties Investors, please get your property checked thoroughly before its too late.

Okay, enough bullshit from me. I’m going back to my work.
