Relax

Oooo… what a way to start my day…

Without the boss and a few key people in the office, everyone looks happy and relax. Not that we are slacking, but we are doing things at our own pace, which is a really good way to start the week. Mondays are normally horrible. With some people still trying hard to stay awake after hardcore partying in the weekend and some people just feel like going back home and R-E-L-A-X….

Hmm… my weekend was good. No parties, no alcohol, just simply relaxing at home. I slept a lot, I only woke up for food and grocery shopping and I managed to clean my room yesterday, like real thorough clean!!!! Hehe… very satisfying… I even made up a list of things to do tonight after work… let’s see…

I gotta...

  • sort out my closet (I bought new hangers… trying to classify my clothes according to the colour of the hangers.. okay.. I’m not crazy, but it does look nicer if you classified them!)
  • sort out my recipes… (been trying all sorts of recipes recently. I found that cooking after a busy tiring day at work is a method to release the accumulated stress!)
  • sort out my Masters course next year? Haha.. I’m lazy and the stupid advisor from Auckland Uni is not being helpful at all… hmm.. probably I should take a paper from Monash or Melbourne Uni as suggested by my manager? I can then study at my own time and submit my assignments electronically and I can fly to Aus for my exams! How cool is that? Hmm.. PROBLEM is… will I really study at my own time??? Hahha!!! M-O-T-I-V-A-T-I-O-N … is what I need.

Awww… I can’t wait to go back home now!!! Hahaha… and worst of all, I can’t wait to have my 2-week Christmas break! Hmm… 5 weeks to Xmas break. OHHH…. I just want to leave Auckland for a while just to keep me sane… Speaking about leaving Auckland, my Waiheke trip has once again been postponed. Blame it on the crappy Auckland weather. >.<>

TEA TIME!~!~!

Counting the days...

Mood swing… I really hate mood swing. But sometimes I just can’t help it.

Hmm… let’s see…

Five weeks + four days to December Christmas break...
Seven weeks to a brand new year… (1st Jan is a Monday)
Eleven weeks + four days to my 23rd Birthday…
Twelve weeks + five days to my trip going back home.. M-A-L-A-Y-S-I-A!!!
Thirteen weeks + six days to 2007 Chinese New Year (da year of pig!)
Sixteen weeks + three days to the end of my CNY break in Malaysia. =(

No appetite…it's almost lunch time... n i haven't had my breakfast yet. Just don't feel hungry and all that i feel like having is a bowl of hot soup… nyum…

Gotta search for recipes now...

Have a nice week people!

GOD BLESS!!!

Being a female engineer

"sorry... you are not an accountant/administrator. an engineer can't wear skirt, you gotta wear pants n comfy shoes!"

oh whatever! this was what my senior told me.

this is why...

  • i've got tonnes of skirts at home and sandals brought in from msia.. but never been used!
  • if i did actually go to work in skirts, "she" will make fun of me by saying real loud "OMG.. YOU WEARING SKIRT... THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST TIME I SEE U IN SKIRT... HAHAHA"... F*** off.. not as if you have nice legs to show off when you wear skirt...
  • i really admire other female working people that can actually wear nice outfits to work... they just look sooo nice...

oh.. i'm not really complaining. i just don't like "her" attitude. i nvr regretted being an engineer and in fact, i love my job. Probably next year i'll get to wear skirt more often consider i'm passing all the site works & survey shits to my junior.

hmm...

my weekend was a quiet one, which was really good. I went to bed around 12am on friday and saturday night. woke up damn early the next day. went out to do some shopping with my colleague for a company function tomorrow. quiet, nice, slow weekend.

Problems that I need to solve

#1 -- Car

My car is with Toyota now... yes.. AGAIN!!! hopefully they will get it fixed *fingers crossed* and then i'll get them to sell the car... yes! sell it! Need a new car...this time i'm going for a four door, tiny, not too girly and not too macho type of car... hehe!!

Four door coz it's way easier for my parents to use a 4-door car when they are here...
Tiny car coz it's way easier to park the car, to cruise around the town and cuter!!! yeah.. CUTE!
Not too girly /macho coz my dad is gonna drive this car when he's in NZ... haha.. it's just inappropriate for him to drive a cute girly car around eh???

And above all, this car needs to be TOYOTA... since i'm asking for a trade in ....

Toyota Corolla?? how's that sounds?Toyota Prius???

#2 -- PC

HAHA... YES! my PC again!!! okay. a recap of the "story of my f***ed up PC* (sorry bout my language). my pc somehow has been having problems of starting Windows system properly. The windows logo appeared and the screen just went BLACK OUT! the problem was "mup.sys" error which happens to be a very very common problem with millions of solutions. I've tried dozens of these solutions, n none of them could solve ma problem.

Last week, i went back to the PC guy, i requested to get a set of wired keyboard and mouse coz one of the problems for getting the mup.sys problem was the Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. So... trying hard to solve my pc problem with my limited IT skills, i tried using a set of wired keyboard and mouse and dumped my cool wireless keyboard and mouse away! okay, the pc worked fine for a week. it operated nicely... shut down and turned on nicely without a problem!

The nightmare came back when i was trying to install my cellphone software into my pc. Firstly, i couldn't installed the hardware when i connected my pc with my phone via usb. and then when i installed the software into the pc, i was asked to restart my system so tat i could use the software. MUP.SYS error appeared again when i clicked restart... just nice....

i'm getting fed up with this shit pc... f*** it. for a pc of 800 bucks.. i wasted tonnes of money and time and energy to get it fixed... going back to Mt albert every now and then. F*** IT! argh... i'm just gonna hang on to this pc for a while. get my car problem sorted out and then deal with the pc guy again regarding my pc.

before all this, i need $$ to solve these problems. money.. pls come to carol... i dare not check how much money i've spent on the car and the pc... all i can say is... i've spent HEAPS!

okay. it's 1.16pm. i think i'm going to take a short rest and get some groceries for the week. Zzzz.....

oh... no FREE fireworks in Auckland for Guy Fawkes Day. how shit is that?

drinks?

After work drinks at Mac Bar... should i? should i? tell me...

i plan to go back at 4.30pm, but if i were to go for drinks, meaning i gotta sit here and rot for another 30 minutes.. coz everyone's leaving at 5pm.. hmm...

drinks or no drinks?

not sure...

side note: it's not even an hour since i last blogged... ^_^

i love microsoft words....

Damn I’m bored! Really really bored. I think that’s why they said you have ups and downs working in a consulting firm. Sometimes you can go real crazy with your work… work day and night trying to meet client’s expectations, and sometimes you can just sit here looking at the clock waiting for 5pm.

Oh well, I have been really busy for the past few weeks, writing up proposals, organising surveys last minute, doing after survey tidy up job, running models… etc. Now that I’ve got everything sorted out, I’m FREE. A bit too free I think. I did my final bit of leftover work today in a very slow pace. Got it sorted out by 11am. It was a bit too early to have lunch; hence I decided to do some spring cleaning around my small tiny cubicle. I started throwing all my waste papers into a box, making so much noise that my team mates came over and started chit chatting with me, which was good… meaning I had lesser time to sit here feeling bored!  I spent approximately 45 minutes cleaning up all the mess and wiped my desk… feels nice and clean and a bit too empty now. Haha! Occasionally I get clients coming into our office and was surprised to see how empty/clean my desk is. They will start teasing me said I’m not having enough job to keep me busy. Oh hell yeah! I need work… I feel guilty sitting here doing nothing but surfing trademe, friendster, friend’s blogs, cellphones, properties, gossips… and I feel bad keep bugging my seniors to pass me some work to do… I don’t mind if they are admin work, just as long as it keeps me busy and help me past my time at work… it’s 1.30pm, still got 3 hours to go.. YEAP.. I’m leaving office earlier today for a very obvious reason – I’m bored!!!

Speaking about my work, I had my performance review yesterday, which took me 1.5 hours. Amazing huh? Probably I talked too much and I was a bit straightforward. I basically sat there, shy for the first minute (coz talking to big boss ma…) then the next min I started splashing out whatever was in my mind. Haha. I mean EVERYTHING without thinking about the consequences. My boss was laughing and of coz I don’t understand what’s so funny about what I said… *weird aye?*

Oh yeah. Very happy coz he’s been very impressed with my work performance so far. And he set a few goals for me…
1. Take up 3 external courses related to traffic engineering (I asked for this…)
2. Take up a few masters paper by 2007 sponsored by the company (woohoo!!!)
3. Spend at least a week on site to experience working on site (sounds cool huh? Don’t have to wear working clothes, jeans will do… muahaha!! I hate dressing up for work and formal occasions)
4. Go to Australia, HK or China for secondment. Could be a 1 week long assignment or up to 2 months assignment. (imagine accommodation and food included with living expenses and get to meet up some cool people from the same company but at different countries, damn cool!!! Oh my… )
5. Learning traffic engineering design… (yes! I’ve been involving in planning/modelling stuff which does not require much engineering knowledge. Most grads are exposed to planning/modelling before they get to do some real engineering design job… ooh.. I’m starting to feel like an engineer now…)
6. Writing more proposals and getting some minor involvement in project management. (I’ll be given a small project to handle all by myself with occasional guidance from my senior.)

Hehe… and performance review will lead to salary review!!! Yeah… hopefully I can get my pay rise soon… I’m getting broke dumping so much money into paying rent every week. Further to that, my PC and now my Car have been giving me shit loads of problems. Always need money to resolve all these problems. I need money! What do I want for Christmas? I want a money printing machine. Eh? Hehehe…

Oh, despite complaining about lack of money, I’m gonna be 600 bucks poorer today because I bought myself a SE K800i cellphone. The main reason I bought myself this phone was that I want to give myself a present after working for a year. I think I deserve to buy something nice for myself, to pamper myself. Although after paying off this 600 bucks, it means that I’ve got 400 bucks left in my account. But, who cares? Haha… I’ll wait patiently till my next pay comes in… which is 13 days away… hahaha!!! In the meantime, if I wanna buy something, there’s always CREDIT CARD.. yeah baby! Credit card… I’ll worry about it later!

Damn, I blog too much. It’s such a good evident that I’m bloody bored at work. I might blog again in an hour’s time. You never know. Haha… la la la… I can hear the clock ticking… tick tock tick tock…. are we there yet?

*Zzzzzz…..*
